Online Proctoring Explained
-
How online proctoring works
Online proctoring, also known as remote invigilation, is a new way of overseeing exams. It replaces the old in-person supervisors for the exam to be both fair and secure without any physical presence.
-
Types of online proctoring
- A live proctor with a human: This is a method where a live person monitors the exam in real time. They use face recognition, biometric scanning, and behavior analysis to ensure everything is alright and there is no cheating going on.
- AI live proctoring: It's fully automatic and requires the least human involvement. Advanced algorithms track the person undertaking the test, flag suspicious behavior; it's making use of artificial intelligence, keeping track of everything at the time of the exam.
- Recorded proctoring: Recorded proctoring does not have live supervision. The whole exam is recorded - audio, video, and activity on the screen. All these recordings are later checked for issues or cheating.
